Recently got a haircut at Simple Hair and very satisfied with the style. Was happy to find a place that is reasonably priced for women's haircut.

I've been sitting on this review for a while to let me sit with the experience and see how my hair was after a couple weeks. I think if you set your expectations, this place is great. Affordable and Holly knew how to handle my hair which is a challenge. I've had lots of compliments since so I'll definitely come back. L O C A T I O N Simple Hair is off of Calaveras on Milpitas Blvd in the shopping center between Marina and CVS right next to Chase. Parking is not hard, there's a large parking lot that's shared but rarely ever gets super full. I N S I D E Fairly standard hair salon with multiple chairs side by side. They have shampoo/cleaning stations in the back. A P P O I N T M E N T I called the day before at almost closing and luckily got a spot the next day at opening. I requested for Holly as I got a recommendation from someone that she does a great job. When calling, you should know what day and time you're looking for and also if you have a specific person you're looking for so that they can look at their schedule. E X P E R I E N C E Since I came at opening, I was the first one there. I was welcomed at the front and asked to sign in with my name, phone number, time of arrival and the stylist. I was asked to sit in the back and waited for Holly to arrive. Totally understand that it's first thing in the morning. I didn't wait too long. Holly is super sweet and I showed her some inspiration photos as I was going to do a big chop (my hair is almost to my waist and looking to go to a textured bob). We talked through the options and I basically told her, I trust what she'll do to my hair. I just said that my hair is relatively thick and can really poof out in the back and she totally understood what I meant as she suggested to thin out the lower back. Exacto! First of first, we did the big initial chop. I brought in rubber bands and a zip lock in case I wanted to donate it. (Yes, you can donate bleached hair as long as it's in good condition: https://childrenwithhairloss.org/hair-donation/). She asked if I wanted a shampoo and clean my hair, and I'm like, sure why not to see how it was. Albeit, I've had better shampoo and massage for my hair, I was ok with what was done. She sat me back in the chair and brushed out my hair and partly dried it with a hair dryer. Just be aware that no heat protectant is put on your hair when it's being dried though unsure if they did put something on while cleaning my hair. I'm so used to having this done right before doing anything with heat that I kind of had to hold my breath during it. I'm very careful with my hair especially with heat. She went forward with partitioning and cutting. She was quite meticulous and careful which I appreciated since my hair can be quite difficult. She then did a full dry of my hair and continued with texturing scissors to help with shaping. Again quite fast but at the same time very careful of what she was doing. At the end, she asked me what I thought if there was anything I wanted to fix. She showed me the back, it looked good. The front as good but I did want to get more of face framing pieces at the front. She took the texturing scissors and used that to help with the shaping in the front which did help. She then asked if I wanted her to style/curl my hair and again, I said sure since I didn't know how that was and I'm game to see what their process is. So this is where I held my breath again as the curling iron went straight on my hair. With colored hair, high heat will damage the color without any heat protectant spray/serum. Again I'm looking to growing out my hair to my natural color and I did mention that to her. So more water or more fading of my past color is okay for me. But for folks who already have colored hair and trying to maintain it, perhaps ask if they put heat protectant during their process and if not, ask if you're able to bring some. Holly was quite sweet and we chatted on and off as she was doing my hair. From start to finish it did take roughly 45 minutes which was fast. I'm so used to sitting in a chair for 7-12 hours for hair coloring that this was a walk in the park. P A Y M E N T I went to the front. I easily paid by touchless payment for my haircut which was $45. I did tip Holly in cash before I went to pay for my haircut. I typically like to make sure to tip in cash and directly to the person. O V E R A L L If you're going to just get a cut on normal hair with a fairly straight forward cut, then absolutely, consider this place for your cut. The cut was great but heat styling process a little questionable. If you don't have a stylist already in mind, perhaps telling them exactly what you want might help them choose someone who would work best for your service. I also got lucky with my appointment as people were calling in for that day and being turned away as they were fully booked for specific services. Definitely check them out!

Recently had a haircut by Kim & from someone that unfortunately has a hard time committing to getting my hair done, Kim made me feel so comfortable and happy with my decision to cut my hair. I have quite of baby hairs and Kim is the first stylist to not make me feel insecure by asking questions or pointing them out which made me feel really relieved. Definitely will be booking my next appointment with Kim.
